Sun leads in UNIX storage

Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced that its Network Storage division took the leading position in UNIX (R) disk storage systems factory revenue, terabytes and units shipped, according to IDC’s Q2-2004 Worldwide Disk Storage Systems Quarterly Tracker.

Sun also jumped past competitors EMC, HP and IBM, to take the number one position in UNIX storage revenue in Q2CY04. Additionally, Sun remained number one in UNIX Units, where it gained 12.8 points of market share, year over year. The next closest competitor in this area only grew by .6 percent, while HP saw double-digit decline.
