Latest SCO Legal Adventures

I haven’t had much coverage of this issue, but today SCO terminated IBM’s right to use or distribute AIX, and is also claiming that most other UNIX variants are in violation of their IP rights as well. According to SCO’s Chris Sontag, “Sun is clean” – in other words, they acquired a permanent license from AT&T for System V UNIX before SCO acquired the technology.

  1. Sun purchased a “permanent” UNIX-and-related-IP-rights license from AT&T years and years ago.
