I have not had too many issues getting Sun's running on LCD monitors. I've found older HP monitors - the 'business' type often supported 1152x900, as well as some of the weird Mac modes.You often find HP panels in the rack mounted keyboard/display systems probably for that reason.

I have a rack of 10-15 systems, 68040Macs, PPC systems, Sparcstations, Ultras, a few Acorn machines and all work through the HP monitor.

THe one system I have a had trouble with is the Acorn RiscPC which insists in booting in 640x400 on occasion or sometimes some unusual EGA type mode that defeats most monitors. Getting that working is a story in itself.
