To a point.  If you really want a bleeding-edge OS, it's a maybe.  10.1
is listed as having been released for sparc (32-bit, that is); I don't
know whether it actually works well or not - I don't run anything past
5.2, and even older on my SPARCs.

Typically.

Back in the day, back when Suns were new, the paradigm was that the
computer chose the video signal and the monitor was expected to sync to
it or else put up some kind of "I can't grok this video signal"
reaction, whether a synthetic display or an LED on the fron tpanel or
whatever.

At some point, and my perception is that it happened at about the same
point that flatscreens started to become popular, the peecee world
changed its paradigm.  And, because of peecee dominance, everybody else
semi-has to make do with peecee-corrupted monitors.  The paradigm now
is that the monitor describes what video signals it can handle and the
computer has to pick one of them and generate it.

Personally, this feels to me like a deliberate attempt to force-break
old hardware, but I don't actually know the motivation behind it.  At
any rate, old hardware on a new monitor is a struggle because each end
thinks it gets to control the video signal details.  I had to hack
around with various settings for hours to get my SS20+cg14 to generate
a video signal that my 1920x1080 monitors could use - and the details
depend on *which* 1920x1080 monitor I'm trying to use; the machine I
have at ready hand has settings for an Asus VH236H and an LG 27EA33V,
and they are notably different.  (New computer and old monitor is also
a struggle, because each end is expecting the other to pick a mode.)

Almost every Sun framebuffer supported 1152x900.  Few modern monitors
do.  Some can do 1024x768.  A small list can do 1280x1024.  Some can do
1920x1080, though on some of them (such as as 1M cg14) it's not
actually usable because the video memory aliases.

I don't know.  I know what's it's worth *to me*, and that's relatively
little; if someone brought it to me and I could somehow be convinced it
worked, I likely be willing to pay as much as CAD 50.  I think it is
probably worth more than that even in the hobby market.
