FTR: NetBSD/sparc <https://wiki.netbsd.org/ports/sparc/> is 'tier 2' / 
'evolving at its own pace', it shares the status with most of the ports.

It is included in current releases, you get to run an up to date, 
supported release on your sparc.

pkgsrc backage builds are usually late and come with a subset of 
packages, for lack of computing power, and because most 3rd party 
software is not cross-buildable.
