I’d really like it to work for console as well as X11 (I don’t really care about accel. - I’m just gunning for 1280x1024 24-bit).

There are some words there, but nothing to change any settings it seems. The two “test” words seem to do a self/screen test.

No idea. When I say dongle - I really mean just the small passive adapter.
I guess my frustration (self inflicted it seems) is that I was spoiled with my TGX+. With that I get 1280x1024 albeit at 8-bit depth. Setting the output-device environment variable in OBP works easy peasy with that card.
I’ve never touched a ZX before, and so far my 2 hours of experience are telling me it’s a slightly different animal...
