I finally got two of my SLC/ELC baords home and started to set one up.
I got the console port wired up and dragged out an old power suply to
which I had attached the relevant power harness. Plugged it all in.
Turned the power supply on and...C10112 exploded. Literally. And the
remnants caught fire.
I haven't had a failure mode that spectacular since the time I hooked a
7805 up with power and ground switched.
C10112 is adjacent to the leftmost (holding the board component side
towards you, main connector to the bottom) few pins of the main
card-edge connector.
The power suply runs fine with no load connected. +5 and +12 (on one
of the 4-pin disk Molex connectors) are reasonable.
So I was going to measure all the voltages on the SLC/ELC connector.
But I can't find my documentation on it. ohno had it as
www.sunhelp.org/~mouse - which still exists as a link on
www.sunhelp.org/hardware/ ("Operating a SPARCstation ELC as a Headless
Server"), but it's now a dead link.
Anyone happen to have a copy? I did a little looking for the original
I used to push to ohno, but haven't found it yet. duckduckgo doesn't
seem able to find it on archive.org; archive.org's own search doesn't
find any hits. The present www.sunhelp.org doesn't accept my ssh key.
And mrbill.org doesn't seem to exist any longer.
