I use NetBSD to serve NFS to ancient stuff nowadays. They keep the support for old NFSv2 enabled since it's required to netboot a lot of the old systems. The downside is you won't get NFSv4 yet. There's a goal to port FreeBSD's NFS daemon to NetBSD, which does support NFSv4. I am unsure if FreeBSD's NFS still supports NFSv2.
