Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8; format=flowed The idea of
replacing my big HP hdmi and vga with a new monitor with pip was
probably crazy. The very nice new Samsung UHD monitor has two HDMI ports
and a Display port which works well with the Nvidia 1070X on the PC. I
had thought that installing a VGA to HDMI converter between the cable
which with the correct dip switch settings worked just fine in exporting
1152x900 at 76Hz to the HP referred to above would work on the new
monitor. But no-joy. It looks like the VGA to HDMI converter must synch
at 60 Hz.B I looked through the offerings on the net and couldn't find
any that if they specified input requirements listed 76 or 66 Hz which
is what I believe the SPARCstation10's output is limited to. Has anyone
done this successfully and if so, how did you do it? john

I have no experience with such converters but would be interested in
hearing more if you can get this to work.

In case the issue is really syncing at 60Hz, you might be able to get
your SS10 to ouput that. What frame buffer do you use?

Cheers,
Malte

The FrameBuffer is a TGX which from the documentation supports
1024x768x60 which should work fine. Machine is a Sparc10 running 4.1.4.
I would have thought that I could reset the default using setenv, but if
I can, it isn't obvious.
I need to read up on EEPROM reprogramming.
Yikes.
best,
John
