It happens that git.rodents-montreal.org and ftp.rodents-montreal.org
are currently the same host. I just saw, in my logs, someone trying to
fetch /Mouse/netbsd-fork/1.4T/src - over HTTP (from an anonymous
address in a youtube(!) netblock).
I don't know whether this was some overzealous MUA trying to autofetch
URLs without paying attention to the <method>:// part (in which case it
REALLY needs fixing!) or a misfire at some other layer, but, while the
HTTP and FTP servers are driven off the same piece of filesystem, the
git server is separate; valid paths for git and for http/ftp bear no
particular relation to one another. Whatever it was, it got the IP the
fetch was attempted from banned at my border for the next week. (I can
of course unban it manually if desired; just drop me a line.)
I also see someone from a completely different address (with
presumably-forged rDNS) fetching things over FTP, which of course is,
as far as I can tell, working fine.
