"use-nvramrc?" is set to true:
"nvramrc" is set to the 3 devalias(es) for the 3 boot drives:
/pci at 8,700000/SUNW,qlc at 1/fp at 0,0/disk at w50020f230000f51a,0:a devalias altboot1
/pci at 8,700000/SUNW,qlc at 2/fp at 0,0/disk at w50020f230000b788,0:a devalias altboot2
/pci at 8,700000/SUNW,qlc at 3/fp at 0,0/disk at w50020f2300002d1d,0:a
I'm quite sure this worked when we tested it years ago...
Now, one thing I didn't say was that I wiped the OS off the "primary_boot"
drive in preparation for a refresh from tape but this should appear to Solaris
as a bad drive and move on to altboot1 to do the boot. And yes, I ran
installboot on all 3 boot drives.

Out of interest what happens as I would expect it to work as well?
One thing is that the nvramrc appears to be set to something and set to true,
