NetBSD has supported the SS10 for a very long time (decades, at least).
In recent years, they have to some extent desupported everything not
"industrially relevant", I think the phrase was, which includes 32-bit
SPARCs.  But at worst you'd need to run a release NetBSD no longer
officially supports.

Whether that's an "obscure branch/fork" I will leave to others.

I don't think of 13W3-to-DE15 adapters as rare, but perhaps that's just
because I picked up a bunch back in the day (and they basically don't
break).  But a quick look makes me think Digikey still sells 13W3
connectors new, so soldering up your own may not be out of the
question.
