That has nothing at all to do with it. It's about respect. I would
never in a million years give so much as the time of day to someone who
would try to tell me what I can and cannot own, do, or care about.
That's just wrong, and is a big glaring sign that a marriage is doomed.
When my wife and I got together ~18 years ago, I told her on no
uncertain terms that if she ever said anything like that to me, we are
done, right then and there, no ifs, ands, or buts. And she said the
exact same thing applies to me. And we're both immensely happy, because
we are living the lives that we want to live, and doing it together. I
help her with her stuff, and she helps me with mine.
It's as simple as that.
