I asked on the Ubuntu mailing list, as I was not on an Ubuntu box when
I read your message.

Someone pointed out that you can optionally install OpenSSH v1 --
there is a package:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh-ssh1

It's there in Ubuntu 22.04. We haven't checked in 24.04 but I wouldn't
be surprised.

All it should need is:

````
sudo apt install -y openssh-client-ssh1
````
