Maybe it would be easier to recompile an older OpenSSH with v1 support
on the recent Ubuntu ?
And a faster as well, as presumably the Ubuntu machine is a lot
quicker than the SS10 :-)

In any cases, the handshake will be tragically slow unless whatever is
running on the SS10 was recompiled for V8 and not V7 (the lack of
hardware integer multiplication is a killer) vs. very very slow if v8.
Also you probably want to pick the fastest possible streaming crypto
algorithm for interactive use and scp (IIRC blowfish was faster than
AES when it was still supported).

Ultimately, I second the opinion that telnet could be the right answer
for SunOS 4...
