That's correct, each bank on a CPU board must be the same, but there is 
no other requirement. You can also run a CPU board with no RAM at all.

You only need to match banks to enable memory interleaving for enhanced 
performance. However enabling memory interleaving disables the ability 
to DR (remove) a CPU board while Solaris is running.
