I was at Rice in the late 1990s, and we had basically the same slim set
of restrictions. Some folks were bad actors about it and got
disconnected, but students who were excitied about the web posted all
sorts of nutty sites that I'm sure they're glad never got into the
Internet Archive.
It was all so gloriously random and mostly lighthearted back then.
