On the CD DVD support pretty much any SCSI version will work, make sure you
set to ID 6 for booting and on DVD you will have to set to 512 byte block size
on older DVDs to boot, but later should have that sorted I guess. Sun updated
their firmware on the early SCSI DVDs to auto select the block size, not sure
if this was just to boot CDs or DVDs as well.

optimization tricks on it and see what kind of performance I can get. Also,
reading about GX/TGX framebuffers, they seem to have some mysterious 3D
capability that was never documented and rarely used (even by Sun). I'd like
to play around with that.

it because there was something inconvenient about the architecture that they
wanted to get rid of, or is it a case of not having time/equipment to test it,
so they dropped support, but it might still work?

but it took days to figure it out). It looks like SCSI CD/DVD ROMs are
available on ebay, so I may go for one of those once I find an enclosure.
