Fair enough.  SCSI DVD drives have always appeared expensive when I've
looked for them but maybe not any more.

IIRC it's a 44 pin cable with a special motherboard connector but I'd have
to look at the one at home.

There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes.
