[rescue] DEC 3000/800S question

Obvious first question: the S3 switch is set for a serial console and  
not a video card?  I'd also try pulling the video card out (if any),  
triple-checking the S3 setting, and seeing if it gets any further.


(who used to have one of the Bird series of Alphas beside my desk for  
several years.)
