The blue StorageWorks racks with HSZxx (probably HSZ80) is a
dual-redundant RAID controller with SCSI disks, using SCSI to connect
to the system(s)
There are 3rd party resellers who would likely buy that stuff from you.
For example, check out eli.com's web site for the retail pricing they
get on various StorageWorks kit pieces:
How much you could get depends on where you are, where the resellers
are, and how much they're willing to spend to come get the stuff.
Obviously they have a market for this stuff, or they wouldn't keep
buying (and selling) it.
Where is the equipment located?
>I have the chance to dismantle an AlphaServer and two StorageWorks racks.
>The AlphaServer 4100 config is the following:
>2x Power Supplies
>4x 533mhz 4MB 21164
>4x Qlogic UW SCSI
>Number Nine Video Card (?)
>10/100 Ethernet Card
>The StorageWorks has no drives except a DLT, there are two removable
>boxes above the AlphaServer which would be easy to grab. The other two
>racks contain StorageWorks in them which are large units with 12 power
>supplies each, and controller modules with HSZ (I think) cache and a
>bunch of boards.
>Worth taking apart? What's the worth of this stuff? I see someone
>giving away a 4100 for free, so my hopes aren't high.
