What about an amd64 system then? For ~$350+tax you can
get a 1.8ghz AMD64 w/2.5gb ram(4gb max), 100gb disk,
cd, etc. Platform snobbery aside, is there really
*any* (used/new/etc*) system for the same price that
can touch it performance-wise?

*Within reason here, ie, once in a lifetime deals
don't really count. Also, power-draw should factor
into the price. IE, an O2k rack for $200 that draws
5kw continually should have its "compare price" bumped
up to reflect that it will cost a lot more to run over
a year than the above machine with 200W max PSU.
