I briefly used the NeXT cube -- the UofU Computing Center (not the CS
department) had a couple when I arrived in 1988. However, they never
caught on and didn't become available enough that I ever tried
programming on them.
The NeXT used display PostScript as well, but didn't use NeWS as its
windowing system, IIRC. I think they had their own window system/UI
layer on top of display PS that was part of NeXT Step. Now for the
NeXT I can believe that they had decent development tools for working
with DPS, unlike NeWS.
