What possible use could multiple cores be?  Unless it's truly
spectacularly badly designed, it will be I/O bound anyway, no?

(No, I have no specific comments; if I need to back up a Windows
machine - doesn't happen often - I move the disk to a machine with a
real OS and use dd or moral equivalent to make an exact image.)
