I've got both- I use them for building via Eclipse all our different
apps, as well as checking code  in/out of ClearCase. I've gotta say
that I fell in love with Parallels, but have moved on to my new love,
VMWare Fusion.

We're a pretty heavy VMWare shop anyway, so it makes a lot more sense.
Some of the teams have even bought Mac pros and are loading the
default image onto VMWare. It runs faster in VMWare on the Macs than
on the Dells.
