No problem! I had a 386i as a slave server for a couple of years! And I didn't even lose the YP printcap... Well, to be honest, SunOS 4.1.1 had a newer version of NIS which updated the databases a lot faster than the old one. 386i and SunOS 4.0.2 uses the older version. They are compatible, but world would be a happier place if there wouldn't be any 386is as NIS-servers (master or slave). :o) When it comes to printcap as NIS map; just edit the Makefile on the master server and make it include the printcap. You could look at the 386i version of the Makefile to get some help doing that. > I may be swapping a 386i YP master for a Sparc, but want to be sure first > that it won't cause problems. Well, I'd say it's worth the trouble... And if you can, make the 386is boot from a SPARC, too... kjv -- SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH (The dolphins) Kari Vaaranen Tampere University of Technology Kraatarinraitti 7A1, kv56962@cs.tut.fi SF-33270 Tampere, FINLAND kjv@tampella.fi
