Sun to distribute SuSe Linux

According to this NEWS.COM article, Sun has signed an agreement with SuSe to distribute SuSe Linux Enterprise Server on Sun servers with AMD or x86 processors. Sun previously also signed a deal to offer Red Hat Enterprise Linux on the machines.

Solaris 9 8/03 released with GNOME

According to this NEWS.COM article, the latest Solaris update, 8/03, has the GNOME user interface as an alternative to CDE. This release also includes support for NFS filesystems up to 16 terabytes, and Solaris Live Upgrade 2.1.

Sun announces Q4 2003 financials

Sun has announced its financial results for the fourth quarter 2003. Net income of $12 million (one cent per share) on revenue of $2.98 billion.

Sun expands UNIX license

According to this NEWS.COM article, Sun renewed its UNIX license from SCO earlier this year, in part to cover Solaris for X86 processors. Also acquired was the right to buy as many as 210,000 shares of SCO stock.
