SUN RELEASES NEW HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

Sun has released the SunFire V1280 (12-way server), faster 1.2Ghz
CPUs for the Sun Fire 12K and 15K, the Sun Fire V880Z “Visualization
Server”, and the Sun Fire Blade platform, using “blade” servers in
the B1600 “Intelligent Shelf” chassis. Also announced was the Sun
N1 Provisioning Server 3.0 Blades Edition, for use with the new
“blade” hardware.Link

USB ETHERNET ADAPTER WITH SOLARIS SUPPORT

Studio Compiler Collection/Forte Developer) and NYC Java Tools (Sun
ONE Studio for Java/Forte for Java) User Group sessions. These meetings
will be held in the Sun Microsystems office located at 101 Park Ave. in

outlines current problems with Sun’s implementation of Java on
Solaris, compares it performance-wise to other languages such as
Python, and outlines specific issues with the Solaris JRE that need

PHOENIX BROWSER FOR SOLARIS

I found Solaris (for Sol7, but works fine on Sol9) binaries
for the “Phoenix” browser, based on Mozilla, today. Works
so far so good on my SunBlade 100.Link

PERITEK RELEASES FREE PCI TEST/DEBUG PACKAGE

Peritool, a suite of software utilities designed to aid in the testing and
debugging of PC hardware. PC functionality that can be analyzed with

embedded systems, has announced the addition of Solaris 9 support to its broad
family of single and dual-display SPARC/Solaris-compatible PMC, CompactPCI and
PCI graphics boards. In addition to updated Solaris DDX drivers, Peritek has
also released accelerated 3D OpenGL and VTS test software for Solaris 9.
